ECHO BEST OF 2021: TITANE

The results are in and echo's Number 1 TV and Film project of 2021 goes to...

TITANE! The directorial debut for Julia Ducournau was awarded the Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival and the People's Choice Award in Toronto. The thriller was fantastically crafted and crewed, and had us all on the edge of our seats throughout - a true cinematic masterpiece!

That concludes our countdown! We wish a happy 2022 to all from the echo family and we look forward to another year of fantastic Film + TV!

TIFF 2020 LINEUP ANNOUNCED!

TIFF 2020 lineup has been released! Included in this years announcement is Cathy Brady’s WILDFIRE (pictured), cut but Editor Matteo Bini; Ben Sharrock’s LIMBO, shot by Nick Cooke, designed by PD Andy Drummond, with costumes by Holly Rebecca and Eve Doherty as First Assistant Editor; THE THIRD DAY will also screen at the fest which Editors Simon Smith, Dan Roberts and Luke Dunkley all worked on, alongside DoP David Chizallet, AFC.

This years fest will be a “reimagined physical and digital festival” and will run from 10th - 19th September!

MORE FILMS ADDED TO THE 2019 TIFF LINEUP!

Further additions to the 2019 Toronto Film Festival have been announced, including A WHITE WHITE DAY (pictured) directed by Hlynur Pálmason and shot by Maria von Hausswolff; J-P Valkeapää’s DOGS DON’T WEAR PANTS edited by echo’s new client Mervi Junkkonen and Dan Friedkin’s LYREBIRD with Costume Design by Guy Speranza.

The final lineup will be revealed on 20th August before the festival begins on 5th September.

TIFF 2019 LINEUP ANNOUNCED!

We are excited to say that the first wave of the TIFF lineup is announced and the following client films will be screening at this year’s fest: Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s THE FRIEND, shot by echo’s Joe Anderson; JUDY, directed by Rupert Goold and with production design by Kave Quinn and Cory Finley’s BAD EDUCATION with costume design by Alex Bovaird.

The festival takes place between 5th - 15th September.

"THE OLD MAN & THE GUN" IS OUT IN THE UK TODAY!

After doing the festival rounds, including London, Toronto and Camerimage, David Lowery’s THE OLD MAN & THE GUN is released in UK cinemas today! The final silver screen performance by Robert Redford has been praised by critics and it is beautifully shot by echo’s DoP Joe Anderson.

Camerimage Film Festival starts today and David Lowery’s THE OLD MAN & THE GUN will open the festival. Shot by echo’s Joe Anderson, Robert Redford’s final acting role before retirement was at Telluride and in official competition at both Toronto and London Film Festivals this year.

"AMERICAN WOMAN": ECHO FESTIVAL FOCUS

With costumes by echo's Alex Bovaird and starring Sienna Miller, Christina Hendricks and Aaron Paul, the film tells the story of the disappearance of a child over a period of 11 years. Director Jake Scott highlights the tragedies that change a person and the life that happens in between.  AMERICAN WOMAN premiered at Toronto Film Festival on Sunday 9th September.

The latest film from 'AINT THEM BODIES SAINTS and A GHOST STORY director, David Lowery is taking the 2018 film festivals by storm! Based on a true story, THE OLD MAN & THE GUN follows Forrest Tucker, an unremorseful career criminal in his quest to live life on his own terms. The star studded cast boasts Robert Redford (in his final role before retiring), Sissy Spacek, Danny Glover and Tom Waits. Lensed by new echo DoP, Joe Anderson, the film premieres at Toronto Film Festival today after having it's world premiere at Telluride Film Festival.  If you aren't able to attend either festival, then you can see the film in competition at this year's London Film Festival in October.

"HER SMELL": ECHO FESTIVAL FOCUS

A teaser has been released ahead of the world premiere tomorrow at Toronto! Lensed by regular collaborator Sean Price Williams, Alex Ross Perry directs Elizabeth Moss as an unhinged punk rocker and destructive musician, struggling with sobriety and pushing the relationship with her bandmates, family and fans to the limit.

The film premieres at Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday 9th September.

"TEEN SPIRIT" AT TIFF!

TEEN SPIRIT, with echo's production designer Kave Quinn at the helm, will appear in the Special Presentation Category at this year's Toronto Film Festival! Produced by LA LA LAND Producer, Fred Berger at Automatik Entertainment, the film is the directorial debut by The Handmaid's Tale actor Max Minghella and stars Elle Fanning as a shy teenager living on the Isle of Wight who dreams of becoming a pop star.

TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FULL LINE UP ANNOUNCED!

TIFF 2018 has been releasing their line up in stages over the last couple of weeks, with the final program announced last night. We are very pleased to congratulate the following echo clients whose projects are at the festival; Gala Presentations include the world premiere of David McKenzie's OUTLAW KING which will open the festival, with Costume Design by Jane Petrie and Hair + Make-Up Design by Kirstin Chalmers; the world premiere of Nicole Holofcener's THE LAND OF STEADY HABITS with Costume Design by Alex Bovaird and A PRIVATE WAR directed by Matthew Heineman with Production Design by Sophie Becher. Lensed by Sean Price Williams, Alex Ross Perry's HER SMELL will also have it's world premiere at the festival and will be shown in the Platform Presentations Program. In the Special Presentation Category we have more world premieres for TEEN SPIRIT, directed by Max Minghella with Production Design by Kave Quinn; and Jake Scott's AMERICAN WOMAN which again features Costume Design by Alex Bovaird. Costume Designer, Jo Thompson and Hair + Make-up Designer, Emma Scott worked on Peter Strickland's IN FABRIC, which is part of the Midnight Madness program. The Contemporary World Cinema category includes BORDER directed by Ali Abassi and shot by Nadim Carlsen; and BIRDS OF PASSAGE directed by Cristina Gallego and Ciro Guerro, lensed by DoP David Gallego, ADFC. "DARK RIVER" IS RELEASED IN UK CINEMAS TODAY!

Directed by Clio Barnard and co-edited by Luke Dunkley, the critically acclaimed film, DARK RIVER is officially out in UK cinemas today.  The film, produced by Moonspun Films, BFI and Film4 stars Ruth Wilson, Mark Stanley and Sean Bean to tell the story of a woman returning to her family farm to claim what she believes to be rightfully hers, despite being followed by her haunting past.

"BORG MCENROE" OPENS IN THE UK TODAY

Lensed by Niels Thastum and directed by Janus Metz Pedersen, this biographical sports drama stars Shia LaBeouf as the temperamental John McEnroe and Sverrir Gudnason as the stoic Björn Borg in a depiction of the famous '80s tennis rivalry. 

"THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM" IN CINEMAS NOW!

With hair and make-up design by Kirstin Chalmers, and directed by Juan Carlos Medina, the film stars Bill Nighy as a Victorian detective on the trail of a serial killer. The film premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, and has been released in the UK by Lionsgate.  

TORONTO FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES "BEAST" AND "DARK RIVER" AMONGST PLATFORM LINE-UP

Congratulations to Michael Pearce's feature BEAST, designed by ECHO's Laura Ellis Cricks, starring Jessie Buckley and Johnny Flynn, and to Clio Barnard's DARK RIVER, co-edited by ECHO's Luke Dunkley, starring Ruth Wilson.  Both are set to screen in TIFF's Platform series, which opens September 8th. 

"FREE FIRE" RELEASED IN UK CINEMAS

Director Ben Wheatley's FREE FIRE is out in the UK today.  Nominated for two BIFA 2016 awards, including best director, the film follows a shootout between two gangs in 1970's Boston.  Starring Brie Larson, with costume design by Emma Fryer and make-up and hair by Emma Scott.  FREE FIRE closed the 2016 BFI London Film Festival, was part of the official selection of the 2016 Toronto Film Festival and will be released in the US on 21st April 2017.
