Jeanette Nordahl’s WILDLAND (aka KØD + BLOD) received wonderful reviews after it’s premiere at Berlin Film Festival last month! Nordahl’s debut feature is shot by the brilliant David Gallego, ADFC and is released in Denmark this week but fingers crossed for an international release soon. After a highly anticipated wait, and a year after opening Director’s Fortnight at Cannes Film Festival, BIRDS OF PASSAGE is finally out in the UK today! Lensed by DoP David Gallego, ADFC, directed by Cristina Gallego and Ciro Guerra the film will be in Curzon cinemas as of today and also available to stream on Curzon on demand. One of echo’s films of last year - don’t miss it!

Now into the second day of this year’s Sundance Film Festival, BIRDS OF PASSAGE will have it’s first showing at the fest tonight! Directed by Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego the powerful movie shot by echo’s David Gallego ADFC has been praised by critics everywhere! We are looking forward to a 2019 release!

We’re at the halfway mark now. And flying in at number 5 of our Best Films of 2018 is the wonderful BIRDS OF PASSAGE! The fact that it was selected for Cannes, Toronto and London Film Festivals this year and will be at Sundance in January speaks for itself but Ciro Guerra and Cristina Gallego’s film is also beautifully shot by echo’s David Gallego, ADFC and is the official Colombian Foreign Language Entry at the Oscars.

Sundance has announced the full lineup across the festival and we are very pleased to congratulate echo’s Director of Photographers Lachlan Milne, ACS who shot Abe Forsyth’s LITTLE MONSTERS which will have it’s World Premiere at the festival and David Gallego, ADFC who shot BIRDS OF PASSAGE directed by Cristina Gallego and Ciro Guerra and will feature in the spotlight category.

TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FULL LINE UP ANNOUNCED!

TIFF 2018 has been releasing their line up in stages over the last couple of weeks, with the final program announced last night. We are very pleased to congratulate the following echo clients whose projects are at the festival; Gala Presentations include the world premiere of David McKenzie's OUTLAW KING which will open the festival, with Costume Design by Jane Petrie and Hair + Make-Up Design by Kirstin Chalmers; the world premiere of Nicole Holofcener's THE LAND OF STEADY HABITS with Costume Design by Alex Bovaird and A PRIVATE WAR directed by Matthew Heineman with Production Design by Sophie Becher. Lensed by Sean Price WilliamsAlex Ross Perry's HER SMELL will also have it's world premiere at the festival and will be shown in the Platform Presentations Program. In the Special Presentation Category we have more world premieres for TEEN SPIRIT, directed by Max Minghella with Production Design by Kave Quinnand Jake Scott's AMERICAN WOMAN which again features Costume Design by Alex Bovaird. Costume Designer, Jo Thompson and Hair + Make-up Designer, Emma Scott worked on Peter Strickland's IN FABRIC, which is part of the Midnight Madness program. The Contemporary World Cinema category includes BORDER directed by Ali Abassi and shot by Nadim Carlsen; and BIRDS OF PASSAGE directed by Cristina Gallego and Ciro Guerro, lensed by DoP David Gallego, ADFC. Last but not least, GWEN directed by William McGregor and with Production Design by Laura Ellis Cricks will appear in the Discovery section. Congratulations to you all! TlFF takes place between 6th - 16th September.

BAFTA NOMINATIONS OUT!

Echo congratulates Costume Designer Holly RebeccaDirector of Photography David Gallego, ADFC and Art Director Malin Lindholm for their work on I AM NOT A WITCH as well as Costume Designer Guy Speranza for JAWBONE and Consulting Editor Jinx Godfrey on KINGDOM OF US, all nominated for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.  GOD'S OWN COUNTRY has also been nominated for Outstanding British Film, with hair and make-up design by Bean EllisPADDINGTON 2, edited by Mark Everson, has been nominated for both Best Adapted Screenplay and Outstanding British Film and AAMIR, co-edited by Matteo Bini has been nominated for Best British Short Film.  The 2018 BAFTA Ceremony takes place on February 18th.

A huge congratulations to our clients and films with BIFA nominations! I AM NOT A WITCH was nominated for 12 awards, including Best British Independent Film, Best Costume Design for Holly Rebecca, and Best Cinematography for our DoP David Gallego, ADFCJAWBONE, featuring Costume Design by Guy Speranza, received 7 nominations, and GOD'S OWN COUNTRY, featuring Hair and Make Up by Bean Ellis, who will be joining ECHO at the end of this month, received 11 nominations, including Best British Independent Film. Editor Jinx Godfrey cut KINGDOM OF US, which received a Best Documentary nomination. The British Independent Film Awards will be on Sunday December 10th.

Congratulations to the films selected on the BIFA longlists today! I AM NOT A WITCH, directed and written by Rungano Nyoni, appeared in three categories including the Douglas Hickox Award for Debut Director, Best Debut Screenwriter, and Breakthrough Producer for the film's producer Emily Morgan. Shot by David Gallego, ADFC, the film features costume design by Holly Rebecca, and art direction by Malin Lindholm. JAWBONE directed by Thomas Napper and written by Johnny Harris featuring costume design by Guy Speranza has also been listed for the Douglas Hickox Award and Best Debut Screenwriter.  Writer and director Francis Lee is listed in both directing and screenwriting categories for GOD'S OWN COUNTRY, as were the film's producers Jack Tarling and Manon Ardisson in the Breakthrough Producer category. The film features hair and make up design by Bean Ellis, whom we are thrilled to announce will join the ECHO family on November 24th. CITY OF TINY LIGHTS, lensed by Director of Photography, Felix Wiedemann, BSC was listed for Most Promising Newcomer for actress Hannah Rae.

ECHO Congratulates Editor, Napoleon Stratogiannakis for ifeature APOSTASY, directed by Dan Kokotajlo which will have it’s world premiere at this year’s TIFF.  Congratulations also go to Director of Photography, David Gallego, ADFCCostume Designer, Holly Rebecca and Malin Lindholm for her art direction for Nathan Parker for Rungano Nyoni’s feature debut and North American Premiere, I AM NOT A WITCH which is also screening in the Discovery section.  Michael Noer’s PAPILLON, with hair and make-up design by Kirstin Chalmers and YOU DISAPPEAR (DU FORSVINDER) directed by Peter Schønau Fog and edited by Morten Højbjerg will also screen at the festival in the Special Presentation category.
