ECHO BEST OF 2021: MINARI

MINARI is Number 7 in our Top 10 TV + Film countdown of 2021!

The film received the Grand Jury Prize and U.S. Dramatic Audience Award at Sundance, and the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture (Foreign Language).

The moving drama about family and the experience of immigration was written and directed by Lee Isaac Chung and features the brilliant work of echo's DOP Lachlan Milne ASC, ACS, NZCS.

The wait is over and we’ll find out the 2021 Oscar winners tonight! Very best of luck to DoP Lachlan Milne, ACS who shot MINARI (pictured) which is nominated for an amazing 6 awards including Best Motion Picture of the Year; and Jinx Godfrey, ACE who was Consultant Editor on MY OCTOPUS TEACHER which is up for Best Documentary!

The ceremony airs tonight in the US!

OSCAR NOMINATIONS 2021!

We are thrilled to see MINARI, shot by Lachlan Milne, ACS, Oscar nominated for Best Picture as well as 5 other nominations; and MY OCTOPUS TEACHER, which Editor Jinx Godfrey, ACE consulted on, nominated for Best Documentary. Congrats to Lachlan and Jinx and everyone involved.

The 93rd Academy Awards will take place on 25th April.

2021 GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINATIONS!

The Golden Globes nominations have been announced! Huge congratulations to Director of Photography Lachlan Milne, ACS who shot MINARI which has been nominated for Best Foreign Language Picture; and Emma Fryer who designed costumes for THE GREAT which has received a Best TV Series (Comedy or Musical) nomination.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on the 28th February, 2021.

THE INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARD NOMINATIONS!

The Independent Spirit Award nominations are out and we are very pleased to see that MINARI (pictured) has been nominated for 6 awards including Best Feature and I MAY DESTROY YOU for Best New Scripted Series. MINARI was shot by echo’s Director of Photography Lachlan Milne, ACS and I MAY DESTROY YOU (eps 6 + 12) edited by John Dwelly. Congratulations!

The winners will be announced at the ceremony in LA on the 22nd April.

THE "MINARI" TRAILER IS OUT!

The trailer for MINARI has been released! Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the film won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at Sundance earlier this year, and we cannot wait to see it. Shot beautifully by echo’s Director of Photography Lachlan Milne, ACS, we are excited for a release date to be announced!

SUNDANCE LINEUP 2020!

Sundance 2020 Lineup has been announced and we are very excited to say the following client projects will all be screened at the festival: Sean Durkin’s THE NEST, with Hair + Make-Up Design by Emma Scott, will have it’s World Premiere; TESLA, shot by DoP Sean Price Williams, will screen in the US Drama Competition along with Lee Isaac Chung’s MINARI lensed by DoP Lachlan Milne, ACS; Aneil Karia’s SURGE, shot by Stuart Bentley, BSC and with production design by Alexandra Toomey, will be competing in the World Cinema Drama category; and HIS HOUSE, with costume design by Holly Rebecca, will screen in the Midnight section!

The festival runs from 23rd January - 2nd February 2020 in Salt Lake City.

Abe Forsythe’s LITTLE MONSTERS is released in UK cinemas today and also available on Sky Premiere! The comedy horror was shot by echo’s Lachlan Milne, ACS and stars Lupita Nyong’o (12 YEARS A SLAVE) and was screened at both Sundance and London Film Festivals this year.

Abe Forsythe’s LITTLE MONSTERS will have it’s World Premiere at Sundance Film Festival tonight! The comedy horror was shot by echo’s Lachlan Milne, ACS and stars Lupita Nyong’o (12 YEARS A SLAVE) as a teacher whose class, while on a school trip, is faced with a zombie invasion!

Sundance has announced the full lineup across the festival and we are very pleased to congratulate echo’s Director of Photographers Lachlan Milne, ACS who shot Abe Forsyth’s LITTLE MONSTERS which will have it’s World Premiere at the festival and David Gallego, ADFC who shot BIRDS OF PASSAGE directed by Cristina Gallego and Ciro Guerra and will feature in the spotlight category.

HAPPY "STRANGER THINGS" DAY!

Happy Stranger Things Day! Echo’s DoP, Lachlan Milne, ACS is currently shooting Series 3 of the hugely popular Netflix series STRANGER THINGS. Set to wrap next week Lachlan has been working with the show creators, The Duffer Brothers along with various guest directors and of course the cast will be returning including Millie Bobby Brown. Don’t know about you but we can’t wait!

LACHLAN MILNE, ACS SHOOTS "LITTLE MONSTERS" 

Abe Forsythe is set to write and direct this Australian Zombie project produced by Made Up Stories and Snoot Entertainment. Alexander England plays a failed musician who has volunteered to chaperone his nephew's kindergarten field trip, motivated by the company of the teacher, played by Lupita Nyong'o, who has also garnered the attentions of a children's show celebrity, played by Josh Gad. The scenario is of course complicated by a sudden zombie outbreak. Lensed by Lachlan Milne, ACS, the comedy is currently shooting in Sydney.

To the tune of Celine Dion's 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now', the New Zealand brewery gives a new comedic angle to the Speight's drinker in their new spot, lensed by Lachlan Milne, ACSThe ad features good comedy moments including disgustingly healthy smoothies, tyre-hauling mishaps, and a synchronised case of builder's bum. The Sweetshop produces with Mark Albiston directing.

LONDON FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES LINEUP

Congratulations to all ECHO clients who have films selected in this year’s London Film Festival!  Screening in the First Feature Competition are: APOSTASY, directed by Daniel Kokotajlo and cut by Napoleon Stratogiannakis; BEAST, directed by Michael Pearce with production design by Laura Ellis Cricks; I AM NOT A WITCH, directed by Rungano Nyoni, with cinematography by David Gallego, ADFC, costume design by Holly Rebecca, and art direction by Malin Lindholm. In the Documentary Competition: Jinx Godfrey for her consulting work on KINGDOM OF US, directed by Lucy Cohen.  Other films screening at the festival include: DARK RIVER, directed by Clio Barnard and co-cut by Luke Dunkley; GOOD TIME, directed by Josh and Benny Safdie and lensed by Sean Price Williams; THE PARTY, directed by Sally Potter with costume design by Jane Petrie; AAMIR, directed by Vika Evdokimenko and edited by Matteo Bini; FAMILY HAPPINESS, directed by Alice Englert with cinematography by Lachlan Milne, ACS; OKSIJAN, directed by Edward Watts and lensed by Michael Paleodimos; ROBOT AND SCARECROW, directed by Kibwe Tavares and designed by Laura Ellis Cricks.  The festival will take place from 4th- 15th October.
