Catch contemporary dancer Bobby Jene Smith playing Charlotte in Georgia Parris’ debut film MARI, premiering tonight at LFF! Parris blends dance and drama, following Charlotte undergoing a complex journey through womanhood. Featuring work from echo clients Hair and Make-Up Designer, Bean Ellis, Costume Designer Holly Rebecca, Production Designer Bobby Cousins and Editor Napoleon Stratogiannakis.

REMI WEEKES' HOTLY ANTICIPATED DEBUT STUDIO FEATURE "HIS HOUSE" SHOOTS!

With Costume Designer Holly Rebecca  at the helm (pictured here on the set of I AM NOT A WITCH), first time feature director, Remi Weekes is now in production on the Sundance Institute’s NHK Award winning, HIS HOUSE. The elevated horror follows a young refugee couple who make a harrowing escape from war-torn Sudan but then struggle to adjust to their new life in a small English town that has an evil lurking beneath the surface. Produced by New Regency Pictures and BBC Films the film stars Wunmi Mosaku and Sope Dirisu.

A huge congratulations to Rebecca Hale who has been nominated for a British Arrow Award for Best Costume Design for her work on VOLKSWAGEN, THE BUTTON directed by Gary Freedman.

The Awards take place on the 16th of May.

CADBURY "MUM'S BIRTHDAY" BROADCASTS

The new advert, Cadbury MUM'S BIRTHDAY has been released today with costume design by ECHO's Holly RebeccaDirected by Academy's Fréderic Planchon, it's a heartwarming short story of small girl very seriously trying to buy her mum a birthday chocolate bar, while paying an increasingly bemused shopkeeper with a child's pocket assortment of buttons, costume rings and lastly (with some reluctance) a toy unicorn. We're looking forward for the second instalment of the campaign to be released!

BAFTA NOMINATIONS OUT!

Echo congratulates Costume Designer Holly RebeccaDirector of Photography David Gallego, ADFC and Art Director Malin Lindholm for their work on I AM NOT A WITCH as well as Costume Designer Guy Speranza for JAWBONE and Consulting Editor Jinx Godfrey on KINGDOM OF US, all nominated for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.  GOD'S OWN COUNTRY has also been nominated for Outstanding British Film, with hair and make-up design by Bean EllisPADDINGTON 2, edited by Mark Everson, has been nominated for both Best Adapted Screenplay and Outstanding British Film and AAMIR, co-edited by Matteo Bini has been nominated for Best British Short Film.  The 2018 BAFTA Ceremony takes place on February 18th.

"THE MAGICAL WORLD OF JUST EAT" AD RELEASED

Directed by Academy’s Si&Ad, THE MAGICAL WORLD OF JUST EAT features a cavalry of local chefs, anthropomorphic chop sticks, flying mopeds and an all singing and all dancing cast, choreographed by Litza Bixler. This Broadway style spectacular was lensed by Niels Thastum with costume design by Holly Rebecca.

BIFA 2017 NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED

A huge congratulations to our clients and films with BIFA nominations! I AM NOT A WITCH was nominated for 12 awards, including Best British Independent Film, Best Costume Design for Holly Rebecca, and Best Cinematography for our DoP David Gallego, ADFCJAWBONE, featuring Costume Design by Guy Speranza, received 7 nominations, and GOD'S OWN COUNTRY, featuring Hair and Make Up by Bean Ellis, who will be joining ECHO at the end of this month, received 11 nominations, including Best British Independent Film. Editor Jinx Godfrey cut KINGDOM OF US, which received a Best Documentary nomination. The British Independent Film Awards will be on Sunday December 10th.

Congratulations to all ECHO clients who have films in this year's Camerimage International Film Festival! Screening in the Director's Debuts Competition is BORG/MCENROE directed by Janus Metz, and lensed by Niels Thastum, who has been nominated in the Music Videos Competition with Alt-J's IN COLD BLOOD, directed by Casper Balslev. Screening in the European Panorama section is Rungano Nyoni's I AM NOT A WITCH, with cinematography by David Gallego, ADFC (a film which features an ECHO collaboration with Holly Rebecca helming costume direction, and Malin Lindholm on art direction).

BIFA ANNOUNCES LONGLISTS

Congratulations to the films selected on the BIFA longlists today! I AM NOT A WITCH, directed and written by Rungano Nyoni, appeared in three categories including the Douglas Hickox Award for Debut Director, Best Debut Screenwriter, and Breakthrough Producer for the film's producer Emily Morgan. Shot by David Gallego, ADFC, the film features costume design by Holly Rebecca, and art direction by Malin Lindholm. JAWBONE directed by Thomas Napper and written by Johnny Harris featuring costume design by Guy Speranza has also been listed for the Douglas Hickox Award and Best Debut Screenwriter.  Writer and director Francis Lee is listed in both directing and screenwriting categories for GOD'S OWN COUNTRY, as were the film's producers Jack Tarling and Manon Ardisson in the Breakthrough Producer category. The film features hair and make up design by Bean Ellis, whom we are thrilled to announce will join the ECHO family on November 24th. CITY OF TINY LIGHTS, lensed by Director of Photography, Felix Wiedemann, BSC was listed for Most Promising Newcomer for actress Hannah Rae.

With her distinctive satirical voice, director Rungano Nyoni's first feature tells the story of a young girl convicted of witchcraft in modern day Zambia. Lensed by David Gallego, ADFC, the film features costume direction by Holly Rebecca, and art direction by Malin Lindholm. I AM NOT A WITCH is being distributed by Curzon Artficial Eye and was screened at the Cannes Film Festival and more recently at the London Film Festival.

In the Documentary Competition: Jinx Godfrey for her consulting work on KINGDOM OF US, directed by Lucy Cohen.  Other films screening at the festival include: DARK RIVER, directed by Clio Barnard and co-cut by Luke Dunkley; GOOD TIME, directed by Josh and Benny Safdie and lensed by Sean Price Williams; THE PARTY, directed by Sally Potter with costume design by Jane Petrie; AAMIR, directed by Vika Evdokimenko and edited by Matteo Bini; FAMILY HAPPINESS, directed by Alice Englert with cinematography by Lachlan Milne, ACS; OKSIJAN, directed by Edward Watts and lensed by Michael Paleodimos; ROBOT AND SCARECROW, directed by Kibwe Tavares and designed by Laura Ellis Cricks.  The festival will take place from 4th- 15th October.

TORONTO FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES DISCOVERY AND SPECIAL PRESENTATION LINE-UP

ECHO Congratulates Editor, Napoleon Stratogiannakis for ifeature APOSTASY, directed by Dan Kokotajlo which will have it’s world premiere at this year’s TIFF.  Congratulations also go to Director of Photography, David Gallego, ADFCCostume Designer, Holly Rebecca and Malin Lindholm for her art direction for Nathan Parker for Rungano Nyoni’s feature debut and North American Premiere, I AM NOT A WITCH which is also screening in the Discovery section.  Michael Noer’s PAPILLON, with hair and make-up design by Kirstin Chalmers and YOU DISAPPEAR (DU FORSVINDER) directed by Peter Schønau Fog and edited by Morten Højbjerg will also screen at the festival in the Special Presentation category.
