COSTUME DESIGNER GUY SPERANZA WRAPS ON "STAN AND OLLIE"

The feature, directed by Jon S. Baird and produced by Faye Ward for Fable Pictures for BBC Films and eOne Entertainment stars John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan as the infamous comedic duo Laurel and Hardy. STAN AND OLLIE follows their final tour through post-war Britain as they reunite to attempt to revive their careers.

Featuring the work of Costume Designer Emma Fryer, the three-part critically acclaimed BBC series directed by Philippa Lowthorpe is now available on BBC iPlayer.  The mini-series was made with the full consent of the victims of the Rochdale sexual ‘grooming’ case and tells their story as they fought to testify and be heard by authorities.  Originally broadcast on BBC One on 16-18 May 2017, THREE GIRLS stars Maxine Peak, Lesley Sharp, and Paul Kaye.

THE TRIAL presents the entirety of a fictionalized British criminal court case, complete with real jurors, barristers and judge. Shot by Director of Photography, Carlos Catalan and directed by BAFTA winners Nick Holt and Kath Mattock, this unique series gives unusual insight to the British justice system as we follow the jurors from the courtroom to the deliberation room, as they deliberate the case of a woman murdered in her home.

"SUNTAN" RELEASED IN UK CINEMAS TODAY

Cut by Napoleon Stratogiannakis, SUNTAN is Greek director Argyris Papadimitropoulos's piercing comedy about middle-age decline as it follows a doctor on a small Greek island and his infatuation with a group of youths. Winner of Best International Feature at the 2016 Edinburgh International Film Festival, SUNTAN is released in the UK today.

KAVE QUINN NOMINATED FOR BRITISH ARROW AWARD

Congratulations to ECHO's production designer, Kave Quinn, for her craft nomination for Finish Dishwasher Cleaner "Combinations" at The British Arrows 2017.  The commercial, directed by The Sacred Egg and produced by Riff Raff Films for Wieden+Kennedy, is not the first Finish advert for which Kave has received a British Arrow nomination; the previous commercial directed by MEGAFORCE secured her the Gold Arrow in 2015.  This year's awards ceremony, held on 24 May 2017, combines both craft and campaign nominations together for the first time.

"I AM NOT A WITCH" TO PREMIERE AT CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

ECHO congratulates all involved on I AM NOT A WITCH, the debut feature from Rungano Nyoni, produced by Emily Morgan and Juliette Grandmont for the BFI and Film4, with costumes designed by Holly Rebecca.  The film, shot in Lusaka, Zambia, tells the story of a nine-year-old girl growing up in an African village who is exiled to a witch camp in the desert and told she will turn into a goat if she attempts to escape.  The film will feature as part of Director's Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival, 17th - 28th May 2017.

"GUERRILLA" PREMIERES TONIGHT

GUERRILLA directed by John Ridley and Sam Miller with episodes 3 and 5 cut by our Editor, Sarah Brewerton, premieres tonight at 9pm on Sky Atlantic. The series follows Idris Elba and Freida Pinto through 1970s London as they seek to free a political prisoner.

NATIONAL TREASURE AND THE CROWN NOMINATED FOR BAFTA TV AWARD

ECHO congratulates Editor, Luke Dunkley and Costume Designer, Sarah Blenkinsop for NATIONAL TREASURE being nominated for a BAFTA TV Award for Best Mini Series after winning an RTS Award for the same.  THE CROWN, which Luke Dunkley also edited, has also been nominated for Best Drama Series after winning a Golden Globe for Best Television Drama.  The awards will be announced on Sunday 14 May 2017.

FREE FIRE RELEASED IN UK CINEMAS

"FREE FIRE" RELEASED IN UK CINEMAS

Director Ben Wheatley's FREE FIRE is out in the UK today.  Nominated for two BIFA 2016 awards, including best director, the film follows a shootout between two gangs in 1970's Boston.  Starring Brie Larson, with costume design by Emma Fryer and make-up and hair by Emma Scott.  FREE FIRE closed the 2016 BFI London Film Festival, was part of the official selection of the 2016 Toronto Film Festival and will be released in the US on 21st April 2017.
